Solar  PV panels are made up of wafers of silicon trapped between layers of glass, which is then coated in an anti-glare film. Sunlight hits the panels and starts a reaction by energising the electrons within the silicon solar cells. As they move and bump into one another they create a direct current (DC) of electricity. This power then passes through a solar inverter, transforming it to alternating current (AC). The AC solar power is then used instantaneously by your business. Any excess solar electricity is then exported back to the grid, alternatively any excess energy can be stored in a battery, which can then be used at a later time.

If you opt for a roof mounted array, most planning authorities class this is permitted development (so you don’t need planning permission). The duration of every installation will be different from the last, largely due to the fact that all of our installations are bespoke. Different factors have to be taken into consideration, such as size of the system, your business energy requirements, G99 application and testing, and potentially the requirement for planning. In general, from start to finish your solar PV system could take anywhere between one and four months. However, once all of the paperwork has been checked off, and the install begins our qualified installation team can roughly install a 50kWp array in just four days.
